Mindfulness – Adaptations, Ethics and Impact

All Wales Event – Aberystwyth University, supported by the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice, Bangor University

What ethical issues should we consider as mindfulness interventions expand into different and diverse contexts? How can Mindfulness have impact and support more systemic change in Wales building on the Mindfulness Nation Report and The Future Generations Act?
As well as international speakers, academics and practitioners there will be vibrant debates and plenty of opportunities for networking with fellow mindfulness teachers and working in Wales.

The morning session includes three keynote speakers who will explore applications, ethics, impact and the history of the development of MBSR/MBCT as a secular practice in the West. The afternoon will include workshops looking at both the potential and the challenges of teaching, adapting and scaling up mindfulness in Wales.

– Rebecca Crane, Director, Bangor, Centre for Mindfulness Research
– Matt Drage – MBSR teacher and researcher, and PhD candidate Cambridge University

Workshops to include:

– Mindfulness and Decision Making – research project by Aberystwyth University and Welsh Government, Rachel Lilley, Professor Mark Whitehead (Aberystwyth University) and Diana Reynolds (Welsh Government)
– The Mindful Nation Report – Taking it forward in Wales, Vishvapani Bloomfield
– Being ‘good enough’ in teaching MBCs: exploring the experience of vulnerability and the urge to perfection, Jo Mussen
